Software
Our Tools & Capabilities
MI&T’s suite of design and analysis software is a mix of off-the shelf packages and in-house programs which have been validated following stringent quality procedures. These include:
Wamit 6.4 by WAMIT inc – frequency domain diffraction/radiation
code used to calculate wave interactions
with offshore structures or vessels
Wamit 6.1s by WAMIT inc – module used to provide the complete solution of the second-order nonlinear problem
TimeFloat by MI&T – fully-coupled time-domain response of floating systems with mooring and risers; mechanical and hydrodynamic interaction between two floaters
FastFloat by MI&T – fully-coupled time-domain response of Floating Offshore Wind Turbines. FastFloat combines NREL's Fast code with MI&T's TimeFloat.
Rhinoceros by McNeel – CAD software used for solid modeling with rendering capabilities and a WAMIT exporter
RhinoMarine by Proteus Engineering – hydrostatic, stability and performance module for Naval Architecture needs
SAP 2000 by Computer & Structures, inc – structural finite-element code, coupled with TimeFloat for strength and fatigue analysis of structures in wave environments
OrcaFlex by Orcina – design and analysis of a wide range of marine systems, including all types of:
- Riser systems: SCRs, TTRs, hybrids, flexibles, umbilicals, hoses.
- Mooring systems: spread, turret, SPM, jetty, etc.
- Installation planning with capabilities across the full range of scenarios.
- Towed systems: bundle dynamics, seismic arrays, towed bodies, etc.
- Defence, marine renewables, seabed stability and many other types of system.
Matlab 7.4 by The MathWorks – includes statistical and data acquisition libraries with many custom scripts for data processing and analysis
AutoCad Inventor Professional, 2010 by Autodesk – includes AutoCad Mechanical 2010, Inventor, 2010, Showcase Professional, 2010, and a lot of other great applications. This suite of software is graciously made available by Autodesk for the development of the WindFloat through the Autodesk Clean Tech Partner Program.
Tools available in partnership with HydrOcean for CFD work:
ICARE – calculation of 3D turbulent, incompressible, unsteady, free surface flow around a hull
REVA – evaluation of forward speed wave resistance and parametric optimizations of water line length, beam, displacement, prismatic coefficient and location of center of buoyancy
SPH – multiphase and multibodies fluid flow problems, including LNG sloshing, wave impact or dynamic damage calculations
