The 27th International Conference on Offshore Mechanics and Arctic Engineering (OMAE 2008) was held at the Estoril Congress Centre, in Estoril, Portugal between 15-20 June 2008.

The objective of this annual international event is to provide a forum for the scientific and industrial community from around the world to meet and present advances in technology and its scientific support, to exchange ideas and experience whilst promoting technological progress and its application in industry as well as international cooperation in ocean, offshore and arctic engineering.

Our hotel room had three cabins, a mast, and two sails.

The highlight of the conference was discussing the limits of linear wave theory when applied to small wave-energy floaters with Nick Newman. As can be seen from the picture, Christian worked hard, even after the talks. An abstract might be submitted for OMAE 2009, which will be held in Honolulu, HI, from May 31 to June 5, 2009.

We look forward to seeing you there!
